First Full Day in Jeju City

17-Jul-2026 • Jeju Island Korea, South

On our first full day in Jeju Island, we first walked over to have a closer look at the grandfather statues in front of the Arario Museum. Second, we did a U Turn and walked over to the promenade directly opposite the Ocean Suites Hotel. Then, we went back to the shopping street named Chilsungro but nearly all the stores were either still closed or just beginning to open for the day. Next, we arrived at the Dongmun Market area and saw the Dongmun Ro Bridge. We also viewed the rainbow colored railings also named the Sanjicheon Stream Promenade. A few steps away was the Marine Corps Spirit Monument. Finally, we toured the Samseonghyeol in the afternoon. It rained on and off for an hour. We had a late lunch on this day. We actually went back to our hotel around 3:30 pm, supposedly to rest for an hour or so and then continue exploring. We ended up staying in our room sleeping until the next day. We were tired and jetlagged!

Here I am in the middle of two grandfather statues right outside the Arario Museum. These statues are believed to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck.

I fell in love with Jeju.

Another grandfather statue outisde a hotel along the waterfront.

We enjoyed drinking this juice. We bought several during our stay in the island.

I assume this says, I love Jeju.

There were tangerines for sale everywhere in Jeju. The Dongmun Market was particularly full of stalls selling this fruit.

One of the many pictures I took in Samseonghyeol. There were lots of Cherry Blossom trees in full bloom here and the Chinese tourists were crazy about them.

Here's my attempt at taking an artsy picture at the palace grounds
