I was excited to be back in Antwerp! For our first full day in the city, I really wanted to see the Grote Market once again. It had been ages after all since I was there last. It was cloudy when we left the IBIS hotel and it did rain without let up by early afternoon. Fortunately, the rain was really more like drizzle and we were still able to roam around and sightsee as much as we could.
On this day, we went inside the humongous Cathedral of our Lady of Antwerp. We spent a good hour here admiring all the art inside. It was a church but it also felt like a museum given all the religious art and paintings exhibited throughout the premises.

It was more beautiful than I thought!
Of course I wasn't going to miss a photo op.

Inside Het Steen, the centuries old fortress along the Antwerp waterfront. There was a European cruise ship docked by the castle when we got there. There were lots of cruise passengers getting information from the tourist office inside.

At the Antwerp Zoo right next to the train station. By the time we got there, the rain had gotten stronger and we decided not to go inside the zoo anymore. The admission to the zoo was likewise quite steep. 35 euros per person!
