Delft, The Netherlands

23-Jul-2024 • Delft Netherlands

Although last month's trip to the Netherlands was our third, it was both our very first time to Delft, the city most known for its blue and white pottery. We made the decision to go while we were in the Hague. It was just 15 minutes away by train.

Who could possibly miss the blue and white pottery made in Delft? The stores, selling both brand new and vintage ones, were scattered all throughout the city center. During our visit alone, we visited a few. I would have loved to have gotten a vase but we were on our first week of vacation and it was going to be difficult carrying it all over Europe. I was sure it was just going to break before our return to the US.

There were also lots of cheese stores and free cheese tastings. How I love this part of the trip!

These may look like cheese but there were merely decorations. They were all made of wood made to look like balls of cheese.

Delft's city hall looked absolutely beautiful! As is the case everywhere we went, it was hard to get the perfect shot. You know, the shot which showed just the attraction and no people around it. We had no such luck. We were happy nonetheless with the pictures that we took.

This church was right across city hall.

Some antique blue and white tiles for sale

This was an antique store that sold vintage blue and white jars, tiles, and more.

I just love how the Dutch decorate their buildings!

Saw some art installations in the city

We saw this windmill on our way to the train station. We had spent the entire day sightseeing and it was time to return to Leiden.
