Ka De We Department Store
We finally made it to Kadewe on the first day of the week they opened. I had heard so much of the place I insisted that we visit it as part of our sightseeing in Berlin. To be honest, I didn't find it to be any more special than any department store I had seen in many of the countries I had visited in the past. I was expecting it to be truly swank, upscale, chi chi, intimidating, and snooty. It was big no doubt and fashionable too. Snooty employees (thank goodness!) were not present. It was pricey though.
This exhibit greeted all visitors to the store as soon as they entered the main entrance.
We didn't really go window shopping inside the store. We went to the floor which had the Berlin souvenirs but we didn't buy anything. We really zeroed in on the floor where they sold food. So up to the higher floors we went.
Don't you just love this fish? I loved the way they prepped it to sell. Very attention grabbing.
Marc inside Kadewe
Chocolates galore. Some of the culprits to my five pound weight gain on this Western and Eastern European summer vacation. But hey, I enjoyed myself and that's all that matters. I will shed off the weight eventually.
On our very last day in Berlin we returned to Kadewe to have one of our biggest and most expensive meals throughout our summer trip this year. We dined at the store's dome next to a floor to ceiling window with a view of the city. Just the way to cap our unforgettable first visit to Berlin. I must say, I like Germany a lot and I hope to be back for a fourth, fifth, and many more times.
